Hi folks -
I'm hoping someone can help me. For the past 4-5 games, I have not been able to hear the hockey-related sound effects (whistle, horn, puck being shot, post, etc)
I can hear all other sounds just fine... people typing, voice chat, "whooshing" during TPs.
Now that I think of it, I don't think I am hearing gestures... that never registered, because I hate hearing gestures - but I think I'm not hearing them.
Does anyone know how to fix this? It's driving me crazy on the ice to not hear what is happening.
Thanks, Kemmi |

Kemmi .. have you checked your master volume and made sure that the volume line for "sounds" is turned up? Maybe you have but, never harms to start at the basics lol. |
|
|
It's also possible you may have muted the soundboxthing on accident. |
|
|
Kemmi make sure you have 'sounds' and 'ambient' in your Audio & Video preferences turned on and the sliders set to something other than mute. (This is how the sliders are labeled in the 1.xx series viewers. I don't use that craptastic Viewer 2, so have no idea how things are labeled there) |

sometimes I'm not able to hear sounds unless I put my slider up to halfway and I've noticed I cant hear sounds either unless I am close enough to the sound source...if that helps any |

Thank you all for your attempts to help.
The correct answer is steeped in lore, but it is worth reading if you are a builder for hockey:
In Viewer 2 (the viewer all of our incoming new fans and players will be using), User's Content Rating Settings are defaulted to "General".
To give context, the possible settings are: General General and Moderate General, Moderate, Adult
The problem I encountered is that all of the GOHA sounds are gestures that are embedded into various scripted objects... posts, scoreboards, sticks, etc.
All of those gestures were built with the default content rating of "Moderate".
All new players will start the game now with a default content limitation setting of "General".
Therefore: No new players (all of whom will be on Viewer 2 will hear ANY GOHA sounds by default until they change their content rating settings!
To Fix: 1. Click Me ]] Preferences 2. On the "General" tab, find the dropdown called "I want to access content rated:" 3. Change this setting to "General and Moderate"
Love, Kemmi
Note: Not hearing gestures is sometimes nice at JH *grin* |

Wow thanks Kemmi!! Very helpful!
And next time I see you, you're getting exposed to my most recent gesturama |
|
|
I hope Kemmi's preferences are set to "I want to access content rated: Belvedere".

Kemmi, thank you so much for the explanation! |

This might be a good thing to put in the equipment notes. |

What if you're still using viewer 1? I'm using it until forced to update. Any pointers for turning up sounds there? They did work fine, now I don't really hear any of them unless I blast my speakers. |
